La Gomera

The Practical

Having explored the GR131 on Lanzarote with KE Adventure Travel in September last year, I was keen to return to the Canary Islands to explore La Gomera and Tenerife.

Trip Organised by KE Adventure Travel

Described as the “Canary Island time forgot,” La Gomera offers the perfect walking landscape with dramatic cliffs, lush valleys, hidden villages, volcanic peaks and a spectacular coastline. Lying just 30 kilometers off the coast of Tenerife in the Atlantic Ocean, the island is a botanical treasure with centuries-old luxuriant Laurel forests in the Garajonay National Park.

There are towering volcanic ridges and deep gorges limiting road access to parts of the island. From the Garajonay National Park there are superb views across to El Hierro, La Palma, Tenerife and Gran Canaria.
